Enjoy a Traditional and Comforting Beef Bourguignon

Beef Bourguignon is a classic French dish that's perfect for fall evenings. It offers rich, comforting flavors that will delight your guests. Here's a simple recipe for this iconic dish.
Ingredients
- 1 kg of beef (shoulder or leg) cut into cubes
- 150 g of bacon
- 2 onions, chopped
- 3 carrots, cut into rounds
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 750 ml of red wine (Burgundy preferably)
- 500 ml beef broth
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 bay leaves
- 3 sprigs of thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Meat preparation : In a large casserole dish, heat a little olive oil. Add the bacon and brown it. Remove and set aside.
- Sear the beef : In the same pot, add the beef cubes and sear on all sides until nicely browned. Remove and set aside.
- Cooking the vegetables : Add the onions, carrots and garlic to the casserole dish. Sauté for 5 minutes.
- Final Mix : Return the beef and bacon to the casserole, sprinkle with flour, mix well, then add the wine and stock. Add the bay leaves and thyme. Season with salt and pepper.
- Simmering : Cover and simmer over low heat for about 2 hours, until the meat is tender.
- Finishing : Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley. Accompany with potatoes or crusty bread.
Trick
For an even richer taste, prepare the Beef Bourguignon the day before and reheat it before serving.
