Caramelized Apple Tart with Autumn Spices

Ingredients
- 1 shortcrust pastry
- 4 apples (Golden or Granny Smith type)
- 100 g sugar
- 50 g butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 egg (for glazing)
Instructions
Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 180°C (thermostat 6).
Prepare the apples
Peel the apples, remove the core and cut them into quarters. In a salad bowl, mix the apples with the lemon juice, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Caramelize the apples
In a frying pan, melt the butter and add the sugar for the caramel. When it starts to brown, add the apples. Cook for 5 to 10 minutes, until tender and slightly caramelized.
Assemble the pie
Spread the shortcrust pastry in a pie dish. Arrange the caramelized apples on the pastry.
Bake
Brush the edge of the pastry with the beaten egg. Bake the tart for about 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
